Opis knjige

One the most important works of medieval literature that depicts different social classes of the 14th century, with some parts written in verse, or poetry, and some written in prose. Presented in the form of collection of 24 stories, told within a group of pilgrims as they travel together from London to Canterbury to visit the shrine of Saint Thomas Becket, their stories provide precious insights into customs and practices of the time. Still, the greatest value of The Canterbury Tales was the popularisation of the English vernacular in mainstream literature, as opposed to French, Italian or Latin.
